Your privacy

What we keep, who can see it, and what you can ask us to do about it.

The short version

Only you and your counsellor see what you write. Nobody at FORE reads your notes unless there is serious concern for your safety. We never sell your information and we never use it for advertising. You can ask for a copy of it, or ask us to close your account, whenever you want.

What you agree to

Four separate things. Only the first two are needed for us to help you.

I want FORE to help me with my mental health

A trained counsellor will talk with you and keep notes about your care. Only your counsellor and, where safety requires it, FORE's clinical lead can read them. You can stop at any time.

FORE can keep my information to provide this care

We keep what you tell us so your counsellor can help you properly. It is stored encrypted in Uganda's region, and we never sell it or share it for advertising. You can ask for a copy or ask us to delete it.

FORE can contact the person I name, if you are worried about my safety — optional

Only if there is serious concern for your life, and only the person you name. We will tell you first wherever we can. You can withdraw this at any time.

FORE can message me about my sessions — optional

Reminders about when a session is, and a note when you have a new message. Never anything about what you have discussed. You choose email, SMS or neither.

What you can ask for

A copy of everything we hold about you. To close your account. To take back any of the optional agreements above. All of it from your settings, without asking anyone.

Records of care you have received are kept even after you close your account, because FORE has to keep them. They stop being linked to your name or your number.

Where it is kept

On encrypted servers, in the region closest to Uganda. Your notes and messages are encrypted again on top of that, so they cannot be read even by someone with a copy of the database. Sessions are never recorded.
